The moon gate is 8 feet in diameter with the ring being 8" in width. 3 rings are put together with wood screws. Being close to a sawmill, each ring section is 2" in thickness and with 3 back-to-back, the moon gate is 6" thick. 
 
DOWNLOADABLE PDF needs to be printed 1:1 scale with a plotter. 
 
I sent the file electronically to Staples so they could print it. A plywood template was made from it to use as a tracing tool. I marked the dowel holes with a marker and didn't drill anything until the rings were assembled. 
 
Once put together, drill through all three rings and hammer in the 1" diameter dowels using a rubber mallet. There are 24 dowels needed that are 6" long each. 
 
I drew the moongate in true scale to be able to get a template. Each ring has 12 individual pieces that circle it. There are 36 pieces made for this moongate. 
 
9 boards were used at 10' wide by 10' long and 2" thick. There are 24 holes around the ring.
